Here is a reader response that I can’t respond to the normal way, so will this way, by simply saying that the over-use of pharmaceuticals is a disgrace, and a dangerous one.
Nancy Says:
I love the waterfall meditation you’ve described, and the process of visualizing pictures for health. I’m not against doctors or proper prescriptions or an occasional over-the-counter ibuprofin. But I am against the amount of pharmaceuticals advertised on television, in plain view of youngsters, and adults, who are told not to take drugs and that “it’s against the lawâ€Â. Yet we perpetuate the cycle by ’selling’ drugs on TV with a glamourous vision of a happier and healthier life. And, to me, the biggest irony is that the stated side affects can often create the very symptoms you’re taking the drug for in the first place. It’s non-sensical to me, but, that’s just my opinion and I’m off topic.
Many years ago, OSU offered an extra credit experiment for psych students. It was visualization, and I wanted the extra credit. So I trudged off to sit in this room at night, exhausted from working and carrying a full load of classes, but I did it. And I remember laughing with friends, telling them the process of going from head to toe, relaxing each part of my body, and then suddenly I was nodding off, my head falling in my books and snoring. I was young, as I mocked visualization. I had no idea how important it was at that time, but, I passed my psych course.
Today I use visualization on many different levels. I wake up in the morning and say a prayer and ask to be happy. This sets the tone for the day. I talk to my subconscious mind, and I say, “I expect a miracle today!†And when I remember this routine, I experience miracle after miracle, and a life full of fun, healthy living and rewarding synchronicities. These simple measures keep me aware of my own responsibilities to take care of myself in a fear-based society. I loved reading about the waterfall meditation, and I will do that too. I also connect with my spiritual guides and angels, and receive wonderful information and guidance. This is something I’ve done for 18 years, with hundreds of pages of wisdom. I am so grateful for this type of life, and my main point is that this is something every person can do. It’s truly wonderful and it’s safe, it’s enlightening, it costs nothing and it’s drug-free. There are many wonderful workshops and books on channeling, visualizing and meditating, and that is the information I’d like to pass on, to keep ourselves healthy, and happy. Thank you.
