The Secret Vaults of Time has become a classic, translated into foreign editions throughout the world—essential reading for anyone interested in what the human mind is really capable of doing.

Author and researcher Stephan Schwartz points out that the anomalous perception we call psi may be seen as a manifestation of the process that Arthur Koestler called holon experiences—an inrushing of sense impressions and knowingness. In such experiences, individuals are informed and influenced—but they also do their own informing and influencing. Their interaction increasingly looks like a kind of entanglement shared by all consciousness, from single-celled organisms to humanity. It is usually described as a sense of connecting to a greater whole.

Schwartz suggests that remote viewing provides a way to explore access to non-local mind and objectively evaluate its veracity. The Secret Vaults of Time provides fascinating true stories of one specialized use of remote viewing—to locate and then reconstruct archaeological sites.

Included are the stories of:

  • Frederick Bly Bond, reconstructing Glastonbury, the most famous Christian shrine in Great Britain.
  • The harrowing story of the secret experiments of Stanislaw Poniatowski and Stefan Ossowiecki during World War II in Poland.
  • The Smithsonian-sponsored archaeological expedition of Matthew Stirling and Clarence Wolsey Weiant at Tres Zapotes, Mexico, in the late 1930s that resulted in some of the most famous Mesoamerican discoveries of the time, to which Weiant had been led by a Mexican shaman.
  • English dowser Scott-Elliott locating Bronze Age sites in England.
  • Norman Emerson's psychically assisted explorations (Emerson is considered a father of Canadian archaeology), and the explorations of Iroquois sites in Ontario by Emerson's student C. S. Reid.

The Secret Vaults of Time concludes with an important chapter expanding on philosopher Thomas Kuhn's paradigm view of how science changes. This is one of those paradigm-changing books.

Critical Reviews from the original publication of The Secret Vaults of Time:

"Schwartz' compelling and cogent book is new evidence that the thinking and writing on things psychic has . . . attained a maturity that commands the most serious attention . . . Schwartz' mature intelligence doubles the fascination of his material.
"But the true importance of his book lies in his closing philosophical-historical analysis of modern materialist science approaching crisis, its resistance to the mysteries of the psychic dimension paradoxically hastening a new worldview even more revolutionary in its impact than Einstein's physics."
Publishers Weekly

"This fascinating book reveals the loneliness on the frontiers of knowledge. Schwartz should appeal to the bravely open-minded . . ."
—Wilton Dillon, Smithsonian Institution

"The best book on the subject and a shot in the arm to archaeologists . . . Schwartz' psychic key to the secret vaults should air a lot of history and exorcise some specters."
—Peter Tompkins, author of The Secret Life of Plants, The Secret of the Great Pyramid

"This book heralds a very great transition in the development of psychic research. It should be read by anyone who wants a better understanding of the implications of such research for the future of science."
—Ingo Swann, remote viewer, author of To Kiss Earth Goodbye

"Stephan Schwartz has written one of the most compelling books that has come to my attention for a long time. . . . It is a delight to read him."
—Hugh Lynn Cayce, chairman of the board, Association for Research and Enlightenment

"This book is a seminal development. I recommend it unhesitatingly."
—Philip Staniford, associate professor, Department of Anthropology, San Diego State University
