What are the advantages of joining the Affiliate Program?
Anyone who signs up to become an affiliate earns a percentage of any sale they refer to us, and gets a check for it in the mail. In this way, you can help to share your favorite books and authors with your own website visitors, and earn some extra money while doing it. You may also increase your standings in search results when people search for the books/authors/subjects you are linking to, and help to create an active community on the Web for the evolving human spirit.
Anyone who signs up is welcome to be an affiliate. If you have a website from a small blog to a large e-commerce site, or just want to send links via email to your friends, you can sign up and begin earning commissions today.
Commissions are paid quarterly. To simplify bookkeeping, there is currently a $5.00 quarterly commission threshhold--if you have earned less than $5.00 of commissions, your commission total rolls over into the next quarter. If your cumulative total for the whole fiscal year is under $5.00, however, you will by paid by July 31st no matter how small the total commission is at that time.
Almost all affiliates will, though it is possible to sign up for the affiliate program and simply send out links via email. The important thing is that people must have something to click on in order to be directed to our site in order for to earn a commission on the sale.
We have ready-made banners that you can post the code for right into your own website code. The banners come in a variety of sizes and aspect ratios, so you can choose the one that fits your site best, and if you paste the code in correctly whenever someone clicks the banner you'll get credit for any sale that results. From your Affiliate control center (or from any book information page you view while logged in as an affiliate) you may also generate your own banners for any book in our bookstore, which will show a thumbnail image of the book which will give you credit for a sale when a visitor clicks it and makes a purchase--even if they buy books other than that one.
No! We have professionally designed our banners to be attractive and easy to use, but anything that links to our bookstore using your unique affiliate number will do the trick. For example, we provide text versions of all our banners if you just want to link to us in the text of your web page or emails. If you are web-saavy, you will also find it easy to create your own banners and links which include your affiliate number so you can get credit for sales from custom banners and links you have designed yourself.
When you are an affiliate and log in from the main Affiliate Login page, you will be presented with an Affiliate Summary page, which gives you access to sales reports, clickthrough activity, and presents you with options for using and generating banners for use on your site.
Visit the Contact Us page and send an email with your questions. Note that once you are signed up as an affiliate, your Affiliate Summary page will present you with your own special contact-us page so we can give your queries special consideration.
Log in at the Affiliate Login page. Also, on most bookstore pages, you will see a link in the lower left for "Affiliate Log In." Do NOT log in using the main "Log In" page for customers.
Is my affiliate account separate from my customer account?
Definitely. Customer accounts are separate, and you are welcome to have both. If you are here to shop for books, log in as a customer using the main "Log In" link in the upper right. But if you are here to do affiliate business, you must use the Affiliate Login page.
So far, anyone who signs up as an affiliate will remain in our system as one indefinitely. We reserve the right to remove members who show no activity for an extended length of time, but there is no quota or expiration at this time.
From time to time we may send out a brief email newsletter to our affiliates with any news we may have. If you check the box for the affiliate newsletter, you will receive them. We expect email newsletters to affiliates to be rare. Note that we still may from time to time email ALL affiliates with important announcements.
