As a result of the ongoing work of Green Peace Initiative and the cooperation of several paper manufacturers and book printers, the cost of recycled paper has now come down significantly. Hampton Roads plans to continue to print as many titles as possible on 50% or higher post-consumer, processed chlorine free paper.

To demonstrate the value of using recycled paper, consider these statistics. Using 73,921 pounds of recycled paper on 14 of our titles saved:

• 666 trees
• 36,347 pounds of solid waste
• 259,432 gallons of water
• 83,899 kilowatt-hours of electricity
• 80,026 pounds of greenhouse gases
• 8119 BTUs of heat energy
