From U.S. News & World Report, January 27, 2003: “His name would eventually be revealed as Joseph McMoneagle, but for the purposes of the Army’s psychic intelligence unit, he was simply Remote Viewer No. 1.”
Over twenty years ago, when the United States government discovered that the Soviet Union was successfully employing psychic spies for counterintelligence during the Cold War, they quickly began putting together their own team of psi-spies, now known as Operation Stargate. The CIA first recruited Joseph McMoneagle from the U.S. Army, to become remote viewer 001. McMoneagle shares his experiences as a psychic spy during the Cold War and beyond in Memoirs of a Psychic Spy, the paperback reissue of 2002’s The Stargate Chronicles.
Over 19 years, McMoneagle never missed one nuclear target and his record for intelligence-gathering was never surpassed. A recipient of the Legion of Merit, he is best known for having pinpointed an underground facility that was used to store Soviet missiles during the Cold War and thereby allowing the U.S. government to act appropriately. He is also known for having located Muammar Qadhafi during the raids on Tripoli in 1986.
Senators Daniel Inoyue, Robert Byrd and Claiborne Pell fought to keep Stargate active, but it was eventually shut down and officially labeled a failure, although China and Russia still use psychic spies. Forty percent of the documents surrounding Stargate are still classified; what is it that the government doesn’t want us to know? After 23 years spent carefully studying remote viewing techniques and applying them to hundreds of intelligence gathering missions, McMoneagle believes more than ever that it is time to incorporate remote viewing into our military efforts once again. “It is an inescapable fact that terrorist activities and the efforts of terrorists across the world have more than tripled in a little less than two decades. I find it silly to continue to ignore a proven intelligence capability that might be used in our defense.”
Memoirs of a Psychic Spy is a behind-the-curtain look at the most remarkable exploits of a remarkable career of military service, and also details McMoneagle’s work with scientists who tested his abilities in the lab. Learn more about this compelling time in American history from the perspective of a highly placed insider who was there from the beginning.
